The General Data Protection Regulation (known as GDPR) is a new legal framework in the EU that replaces a current, and outdated, EU Data Protection regulatory framework. The GDPR will be in force from 25th May 2018, and it brings in a number of new rights for data subjects, and obligations on data controllers and processors that are imposed on companies domiciled or doing business in the EU. These obligations are around how they collect, use, store, transfer, and protect personal data.
GDPR is intended to protect personal data and how organisations process, store, and ultimately destroy personal data when the data is no longer required. The law gives individuals control of how companies can use information that is directly relatable to them personally and provides them with some very specific rights.
This white paper outlines the key requirements in the GDPR that apply to insurers using Guidewire InsuranceSuite™, and discusses how Guidewire will enable customers to meet those requirements when using Guidewire products.
